The Celebration of Food Exhibit 2023

Cape Fear Studios is pleased to announce its Celebration of Food Exhibit.  This exhibit features the work of artists from 10 states. The art is a “celebration” of one of life’s basic needs – Food. The invited artists have provided Fayetteville and surrounding communities with a visual “menu” of “delicious” art! Please visit Cape Fear Studios to view this colorful display, and bring your “appetite” for art with you!

The exhibit will be open to the public, 27 October through 22 November September. Exhibit opening is 4th Friday, 28 October, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please make plans to attend the opening and experience the Celebration of Food.  CFS, located at 148 Maxwell St., Fayetteville (next to the Transportation Museum) is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The juror for the exhibit is Leslie Pearson, local artist and owner of “Curate Essentials”, an herbal apothecary. Leslie is a multimedia artist who utilizes many fiber-based materials, processes and techniques to create sculptures, installations, encaustic paintings, and handmade books in which she explores themes of memory and identity. She pursues art as a studio artist, community arts advocate and educator. In 1998, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Southeast Missouri State University and was heavily involved in community arts programming as the Assistant Director of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and co-curator of Gallery 100 and the Lorimier Gallery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In 2000, she earned a Master’s degree in Museum Studies at Newcastle University in England and completed an internship at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland, UK.

In 2011, she earned an MFA in Textile Design at East Carolina University’s School of Art and Design in Greenville, North Carolina. She has taught at various colleges and Universities and currently serves on the Board of Trustees at the Arts Council of Fayetteville, and on the Board of Directors for the Surface Design Association. Pearson exhibits her work nationally and internationally.

This exhibit has two judges that will choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place cash awards. Cape Fear Studios is pleased to announce the collaboration of Antonella Scibilia, Chef and Restaurateur, Antonella’s Italian Ristorante, and Tony Kotsopoulos, Restaurateur, Luigi’s Italian Chophouse and Bar, both popular Fayetteville dining and gathering places.

Please make plans to stop by and enjoy the locally created artworks displayed at the CFS main exhibit and our retail section.
