National 2D Competition

Cape Fear Studios is proud to announce its 11th National 2D Competition. This juried competition is open to all artists, 18 or older, in the United States. The exhibit will be on display June 28th – July 23rd,2024 in the Cape Fear Studios Main Gallery in Fayetteville, NC.

Show Juror:   Paula B. Holtzclaw

     “I choose to paint what is beautiful and meaningful, knowing that this act of celebrating and communicating the beauty in this world has the power to uplift and inspire.” North Carolina artist Paula Holtzclaw has gained a national reputation for her ability to capture the drama of nature on canvas. She is most widely known for her landscapes where her fascination with light and atmosphere is most evident. Her still life paintings demonstrate a love of the Old masters’ works. As a native Carolinian, she gains much of her inspiration along the coastline, vast marshlands and the southern landscape. Holtzclaw’s paintings have been included in international, national and museum exhibitions. Museum venues include the Haggin Museum, Gilcrease Museum, Booth Western Art Museum, Muscarelle Museum of Art, and the Tucson Desert Museum. Paula has been the recipient of notable awards including: First Place Plein-Air Salon Competition November 2022, “President’s Award ” Women Artists of the West 51st National Exhibition, Award of Excellence  American Women Artists National 2019, Third-Place – Master’s Division Women’s Artist of the West National 2021, 2020, 2019, The F & M Bank Purchase Award, American Women Artists National 2018, First Place, Nautical Show, Salmagundi Club, New York, NY, 2017, Best Landscape, NOAPS “Best of America” National 2016, Best in Show, Women Painters of the SE Exhibition, 2015, Gold Medal-American Women Artists National 2013.

Sales: All works must be for sale. In the event a work is sold, Cape Fear Studios will retain a 30% commission of the sale price. State sales tax is applicable to all sales. No work may be withdrawn early from the show. Payment from sales will be made to the artist within 30 days after the close of the exhibit. Price must remain the same as listed on the entry form.
