Alpha Romeo Tango (A.R.T.)

Baby Doll – Steve Opet

Exhibiting artwork featuring local artists affiliated with the military community.

This is the 9th year for the Alpha Romeo Tango exhibit.  A.R.T. was started to honor and highlight the artistic abilities of our local military affiliated artists. The show is open to all active duty, reserve, national guard, veterans and retirees, and their dependents, (all services), 18 years or older.

Our volunteer military consists of patriotic men and women of all ethnic, religious, and social origins. People not associated with the military may have misconceptions of those serving, thinking that it is all training, national defense, and war-fighting.  While this is true, military personnel are also every-day Americans with the same talents, aspirations, and abilities as their neighbors. This includes many artistically talented individuals, and the goal of Cape Fear Studios’ Alpha Romeo Tango exhibit is to share their talent with our community.

Many of our deployed Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines, return home suffering from PTSD.  Many find healing and comfort in creating works of art. This benefits the whole community as well as the artist.

A.R.T is also open to Military Family members. People sometimes are unaware of the sacrifice and anxiety military Families face when their loved ones are deployed to dangerous duty areas. They as well, have artistic ability and talents that help them cope with the stress faced by the duties and missions of their service members.

Cape Fear Studios has displayed the art of adults that are the children of parents who served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. We have veterans of the Vietnam War, and through today who have shared their art with the Fayetteville community.

Several of Cape Fear Studios members also participate in the exhibit as veterans or the spouses of veterans.  Again, this show is to highlight the many talents of those who Serve.

The opening for the show is Friday, 27 October, 6 to 8 p.m. and open to the public. The show will be up through Tuesday, 21 November. There are three cash awards for People’s Choice, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place. People’s Choice voting begins, Thursday, 26 October, 11 a.m. and continues through Friday, 17 November, 5 p.m. Awards will be announced via Instagram, Facebook, and email.
