Cape Fear Studios is excited to announce the upcoming art exhibit featuring the eclectic paintings and sculptures of Barton Hatcher. The exhibit features pet themed art with an assemblage of original paintings and drawings.

Please stop by for the reception or during the week to view this collection of unique expression of the Barton Hatcher.

Growing up on his grandfather’s farm in Bladen County, North Carolina, Barton Hatcher acknowledged his special artistic and creative gifts when he was only six years old. Barton is a remarkable self-taught artist and mixed media sculptor whose eclectic body of work is infused an elevated sense of style, and playful attention to unexpected details. An avid gardener and fly fisherman, Barton draws inspiration for his artistic designs from nature itself.

Barton’s art has a transcendent quality which has opened doors of opportunity for him to showcase his talent in several North Carolina galleries, where his pieces are admired alongside many prominent artists. On many occasions his clients have commissioned him to create custom art designs that draw from their individual tastes and desires. His work is in the private art collections of North Carolina residents Linda MacRae, Rick and Marilyn Davis, and Mike and Kathy Allen, as well as New Jersey residents Charlie and Liz McCluskey, to name only a few.

Barton owns and operates Gardens by Barton, a landscape design business in Wilmington, NC, where he uses his artistic talents to create uniquely tailored gardens, including building hardscapes such as arbors, trellises and garden patio’s.

Before starting his own business, Barton was employed for more than 30 years by Cape Craftsmen of Elizabethtown, NC, where he was an art buyer and designed and built prototypes for furniture. Through the many years of designing furniture and home décor Barton’s art has evolved into the style today that he refers to as contemporary abstract .  Whether it is furniture, sculpture, gardens, or canvas, Barton’s passion for creating rich, thoughtful and extraordinary designs saturates everything he touches.
