Summer Children's Art Classes - Instructor, Nancy Edge

Children experience the exciting world of art through a variety of techniques such as clay and glazing, printmaking, paper sculpture, and collage. We will also be integrating famous artists and their art work into the lessons!

Session One

Ages: 8-13

Dates: June - 23, 26, 30; July - 3, 7

Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm (begin at 8:30 on 1st day of class)

Cost: $120 (includes all supplies!)

Session Two

Ages: 6-10

Dates: July – 10, 17, 21, 24, 28

Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm (begin at 8:30 on 1st day of class)

Cost: $120 (includes all supplies!)

Class One: Clay!

Student build their own pots. The instructor will discuss clay and firing of pottery in the kiln and children will see the kiln and how it is loaded and fired. They will also see a demonstration on different clay techniques.

Class Two: Printmaking!

Students make their own prints. They will be introduced to printing by observing art by Hokusai. Next they will learn about different techniques of printing including the art of Gyotaku (fish printing).

Class Three: Clay and Painting!

Student will glaze the pots made in the first class. They will also do some painting which will be used in the following class.

Class Four: Painting, Paper Sculpture, Collage!

Students will learn about different artists (Matisse, Picasso, and more) through the construction of a paper sculpture and several collages. What is made will depend on how fast each child works.

Class Five: Matt, Frame, Exhibit!

Students will matt and frame their pictures and set up a display. The last two hours will be "An Artists' Tea" for parents to view their child's work.

Payment and Cancellation Policy: Full payment of $120 is due at the time of registration in order to secure a spot in the class. Participants may withdraw from the class with no penalty by June 16 or July 3 (based on session). Cancellation after these dates will result in loss of class fee.
