community projects
The mission of Cape Fear Studios is "to involve, educate and enrich Cumberland County and surrounding communities with the opportunity to create and freely view art."
Some of our community projects include:
All Fired Up! Fire Arts Day
On Saturday, October 24th, Cape Fear Studios members Nancy Edge, Erica Stankwytch Bailey, Kathy Moore, Connie Bennett, Stephanie Crider as well as nonmembers Greg Hathaway and Chris Williams participated in a fire arts demonstration day. A great time was had by all!

Ashton Woods Kids Art Program
Ashton Woods Transitional Housing program is a housing area which provides housing to families in Cumberland County. Families may live in Ashton Woods for up to two years while striving to save money, pay past debts, and work their way towards reestablishing themselves as independent and productive members of the community.
The week long Ashton Woods Art Camp (generously funded by the Cumberland Community Foundation) is held during the summer and focuses on one art theme. For the summer of 2009, students created art projects that centered around the wonders of the world theme.
This important program focuses on improving each child’s self-image, helping them to express their own unique voice, giving them the opportunity to show their creative side and express themselves through the arts.

The Lois Ferrari Memorial Art Scholarship
The Lois Ferrari Memorial Art Scholarship is given in memory of former Cape Fear Studios member artist Lois Ferrari, who was an integral part of what we do and who we are. It is in the amount of $500 and is to go to a college student in need of money to help pay for their art education supplies.
In addition to the $500 monetary scholarship, the scholarship recipient is also featured as the Artist of the Month for a 4th Friday exhibit.
The Lois Ferrari Memorial Art Scholarship is open to any student majoring in the fine arts at Fayetteville State University, Methodist University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, UNC-Pembroke, and Meredith College.
For more information, please see our Call for Entries Page.

Heritage Place Art Shows
Heritage Place is a continuum-of-care community located on North Cool Springs Street in historic downtown Fayetteville and offers 76 independent-living apartments. Each month, Cape Fear Studios features one of our member artists in a gallery exhibit in the lobby of Heritage Place. The residents there are exposed to high quality original art, free of charge, and our artists are given the opportunity for their art to be seen by a new audience.
