Fall Art Classes with Lyn Padrick
Tuesday Sessions
Morning Session: Water Media
Dates: Tuesdays beginning September 28th for 8 weeks ending Nov. 16th
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Cape Fear Studios
Cost: $65.00
Instructor: Lyn Padrick
Using acrylic or watercolor - explore the use of acrylic mediums; gel, gloss, or flat mixed into acrylic or watercolor paint. Create texture on canvas or paper beginning painters to advanced.
Afternoon Session: Painting pet Portraits
Dates: Tuesdays beginning September 28th for 8 weeks ending Nov. 16th
Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Work on your drawing and painting skills as you learn to paint your pet. This would be a great workshop to paint Christmas portraits for fun and profit. Some painting and drawing experience needed.

No experience required. Learn to mix paint, create colors and apply paint. A complete "how to start a painting and complete it" workshop. This is a fun learning experience for beginners and a renewal for experienced painters.
Afternoon Session: Landscape Painting: multimedia
Dates: Thursdays beginning September 30th until December 2nd
Time: 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Create landscape paintings in the media of your choice. This class is for beginners to experienced artists.

Creative lunch Series- call to schedule
Wrapped Loop Bracelet
Join local artist and metalsmith, Erica Stankwytch Bailey, for a creative lunch. In this 3 hour mini workshop we will create a fun and colorful bracelet using sterling silver and unique beads. The wrapped loop is at the foundation of wire working and when mastered can be used to create unique and beautiful jewelry. We will also learn to make a simple clasp for your bracelet. At the conclusion of the workshop we will share a delicious lunch catered from a locally owned restaurant. Tools, supplies and Lunch are provided with the class fee.
Creative Community Series -call to schedule
Wire Wrapped Ring
Join local artist and metalsmith, Erica Stankwytch Bailey, for a creative evening. In this 2 hour mini-workshop we will create 2 wire wrapped rings using sterling silver and unique beads. These rings are fun and easy to make. Beautiful to wear these rings are also great as gifts. During the workshop, we will enjoy refreshments and the company of creative friends. Tools, supplies and refreshments are provided with the class fee.

Figure Drawing - Next Session fall 2010
6 Monday Nights from 7 to 9 pm
Fee: $45 for all six sessions
Advanced registration required.
Nude figure drawing sessions are non-instructional and include a variety of poses – starting with short gestures and building up to several longer poses. There is a moderator present to keep time, set up the room, etc. but the poses are primarily up to the model.
Completed works drawn from a live model are an asset to any high school portfolio. However, high school students will be permitted in the class only with parent permission. Cape Fear Studios reserves the right to dismiss students from class if needed.

Stained Glass Classes
Local artist Jaylene Nordgren teaches weekly, on-going stained glass classes, which you can begin at any time. The price per class is $15 and each student purchases their own materials. Classes are held every Wednesday from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Please call CFS for more information.

Free Sketching Sessions
Every Wednesday beginning at 1:00pm, Cape Fear Studios offers free sketching sessions, open to the public (as seen in The Fayetteville Observer). A still life is set up and member artists and community members alike can bring their sketching materials and work individually. There is no teacher or facilitator for these sessions, but it is a wonderful time for practice, fellowship, and sketching! Please call CFS for more information.
