Morning Session: Pen and Ink

Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Location: Cape Fear Studio

Cost: $65.00

Instructor: Lyn Padrick

This class is designed for the artist who has had some drawing experience. The use of quill pens and India ink or mechanical pens will be the artist's choice. Many techniques will be used to show value and texture including ink washes, stipple, and cross hatch. Learn a new medium and have fun!

Afternoon Session:  Drawing for Beginners

Time:  1 pm to 4 pm

Location:  Cape Fear Studios

Cost:  $65

Instructor:  Lyn Padrich

Learn how to draw or refresh your drawing abilities. This class is tailored to teach the student the best and easiest way to draw using a common sense approach to drawing. The class will start with simple techniques using charcoal sticks and news print, progressing to pencil and paper. This is a fun experience for the beginner and may be informative for the advanced artist.

Watercolor techniques, the use of transparent color, and application will be stressed in this class. Whether or not you have watercolored before, you will enjoy learning to use a more transparent medium to create new colors. We will cover skin tones, how to paint hair, folds, and much more.

Time: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Learn the basics of oil painting including techniques, the use of color, and application.  Whether you have ever painted before, this is your chance to discover the wonders of oil.

Stained Glass Classes

Local artist Jaylene Nordgren teaches weekly, on-going stained glass classes, which you can begin at any time. The price per class is $15 and each student purchases his/her own materials. Classes are held every Wednesday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Please call CFS for more information.

Free Sketching Sessions

Every Wednesday beginning at 1:00 pm, Cape Fear Studios offers free sketching sessions open to the public (as seen in The Fayetteville Observer). A still life is set up and member artists and community members alike can bring their sketching materials and work individually. There is no teacher or facilitator for these sessions, but it is a wonderful time for practice, fellowship, and sketching! Please call CFS for more information.
