Artist Statement

Evolution and growth...

I'm an artist in continuous evolution and growth, working to develop different kinds of artworks.  They are the result of a personal searching, research, and experimentation.

My first style is mostly abstract, clean, and elegant.  It is characterized by the pure and tonal color.  The acrylic is pulled with accuracy and formed in a very thin skin on

the canvas.  The color is almost a game with the spaces and the geometric structures being timeless, and often run after each other in lights and shades that are dreamy and imaginative.  In my paintings the color is very bright, vivid, and absolutely harmonious because the paints are not put on randomly or carelessly, but are chosen with particular feeling.  Frequently they are spread in a tonal way.  My personal language is evident in a series of inventive dragons representing psychological metaphors attractively done in a chromatism that is pleasant, variegated, and dazzling.  This equilibrium between symbol and myth begets an engaging magic through the pictorial image of a dream or allegory.

My latest pictorial style is more complex, elaborate, and dynamic.  The surface of the painting is not smooth and uniform anymore because it's a three dimensional creation.  In effect, it is an emphasized texturing invented by fabrics and canvas with different wefts, crocheted laces, braided ropes and trimming, beads, and colored metal wire structures.  All these elements build schematic, allegorical, and allusive images that are a mediation between reality and dreams. For example, the kite and the boat, my favoritte subjects, are the symbol of the freedom and search for adventure.  The dragon represents the double nature of any person--jointly attractive and repulsive, both good and bad.
