artist statement

My quest...

I have been a functional pottter for most of the 31 years during which I have worked in clay.  The majority of that time has been spent in the quest of the perfect form combined with the application of a pleasing glaze or decoration to accent that form.  Each new piece of work I create leads to another idea for a different shape or form, a different glaze combination or the addition of different textures to the surface.  It is both exciting and challenging to see how far I can push the envelope to get the look I envision.  It is a thrill for me to watch my creative process evolve.  I continue to explore new dimensions in clay.
