artist statement

Passion for the natural world...

Gail Harris is a native of North Carolina whose works reveal her passion for drawing and a love of the natural world.  An avid plein air painter, she is often found sketching and painting the world around her.  The natural world inspires her artistic soul.  Growing up in a small rural community, she trailed the footsteps of her father, learning the skills of quiet observation while developing a deep respect for all life and the whims of Mother Nature.  The landscape is a primary focus for her in response to our increasingly endangered environment.

Working primarily in pastel and oils, Harris's style reveals her passion for drawing and traditional training at USC Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.  She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Southeastern Pastel Society.  Her paintings have been shown and awarded in major regional, national, international exhibitions, and her originals and limited edition prints are found in private and corporate collections throughout the

United States and England.
