Artist Statement

evolving...exploring...exciting...

With a Mother's Day gift of a Canon camera in 2006 and a birthday gift of a printer that same year, my life was changed forever.  I have always loved nature and those two gifts allowed me to capture what I saw outside and to share it with others.

I first tested my ability in 2008 when I entered the Witherspoon Rose Culture Photography Contest; that year I took second place and the following year I took first place.  In 2010 I was awarded Best in Show.  I have consistently continued to explore photography; I currently have a show in The McDuffs Tea Room and Emporium Gallery in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Most people would describe my photography as "evolving"--I am constantly exploring new ideas and trying new techniques.  Sometimes my exploration results in a beautiful piece of art and sometimes the result is something less.  I love playing with what different lens and lighting can do.  My work has been called "exciting" and "dynamic" and I have been told that it is hard to get a clear grasp of my style because it is always changing.  As long as I have an imagination, my style will continue to evolve.  I am excited about what the future holds for me in the world of photography.
